  • AISISplice - AISIsplice is a tool for the analysis and design of bolted field splices for straight, right, I-shaped, steel girders that follows the procedures of the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. In the design mode, the software sizes and optimizes the splice plates and bolts. In the analysis mode, the software determines the adequacy of given splice plates and bolts. For both modes, performance ratios (load/resistance) for all splice components are determined. The software output consists of scaled graphics and a detailed report. Graphic illustrations include the elevation and cross section views of the splice and adjoined girders. Graphical output includes splice dimensions, bolt details, a summary of required filler plates, and splice component performance ratios. AISI Splice was developed by Dr. Firas Ibrahim and AISI's Transportation and Infrastructure Group.
  • Column Base - Calculates capacity and stiffness of a connection between steel column and its concrete foundation. Both rolled and welded column sections can be investigated. Handles both embedded connections and connections made using base plate. Determines connection rigidity and performs rigidity classification (rigid joint, semi-rigid joint, or hinge).
  • Connection Study Environment (CSE) - CSE is a software program dealing with steel connections. The main innovation of CSE is that is can be used to design connections freely placing components, and, afterwards, check them. The program offers a wide coverage of issues regarding steel connections: it uses automatic internal rules, user-defined rules, and is also able to create automatically fem models of components (members with their workings, plates, cross-section trunks, angles, double-angles and more). CSE is the result of a research dating since 1999. The main aim of CSE is not drawing or detailing, but checking connections. It does not use "kitchen-recipes" to allow a limited number of connections, but lets the user build up their connections freely. A number of tutorials for various connections types is available with the program.
  • DOWEL - Finite-element modeler for dowel-type connections (nails, bolts, lag screws, etc.) in wood-wood, wood-steel or any other type of connection material configuration.
  • DesconBrace - Descon Brace is a steel connection design software for Braced Frame type structures. It is a Windows based program with a graphical user interface for defining the input data and for reviewing the design drawing and calculation report. ASD and LRFD versions of Descon Brace are available. Both versions use the Uniform Force Method where it is applicable. Descon Brace designs Chevron, Knee, and K- Braces as well as braces connected to column base and Beam-Column joints where up to four braces and two beams may exist. Beams and braces may be added to or removed from the joint configuration by simple mouse operations. The section designations, material names, bolts, and welding electrodes are defined using pull-down menus and option buttons, and their data are automatically fetched from the program's database. Member forces are input by the user, and Descon Brace designs and/or checks the brace to gusset connection, gusset plates, gusset to beam and column connections, and the local stresses in the column and beams. Descon Brace creates and prints a scaled drawing showing the connection details. Callouts, dimension lines, and weld symbols can be moved to preferred locations in the drawing area with the mouse. Descon Brace creates a dxf file of the drawing for importing into CAD systems. Descon Brace generates a calculation report that includes the formulae in symbolic and numerical formats and the result of the computations. The design report can be reviewed on-line by opening the Report window. A GoTo command provides a fast jump to the calculations for specific items in the report.
  • DesconWin - DesconWin is a software program for designing beam-to-column connections, beam and column splices, and beam to girder connections, of steel buildings. Simple shear connections, and partially or fully restrained moment connections are included in DesconWin. ASD and LRFD versions, both in the U.S. units and Metric units, are available separately. DesconWin is a Windows based program and requires MS Windows 95 or higher. Input data is entered using pull-down lists, option buttons, and text boxes. On-screen and printed output includes a detailed calculation report and a drawing of the connection. DesconWin creates a DXF file of the designed connection to interface with CAD systems. DesconWin has a database of steel sections including W, M, S, and HP shapes. Users can add customized or non-standard sections to this database. DesconWin requires a minimum amount of data in the Design mode and allows the user to enter all pertinent data in the Check mode.
  • Dlubal Software - Suite of programs for structural engineering. Frame analysis package includes basic program (RSTAB, RSTAB 2D), steel structures add-ons (STEEL, KAPPA, LTB, FE-LTB, EL-PL, PLATE-BUCKLING, ASD), concrete add-ons (CONCRETE), timber structures add-ons (TIMBER), composite add-ons (COMPOSITE-BEAM), dynamics add-on (DYNAM Basic, DYNAM Addition I, DYNAM Addition II) and other add-ons (DEFORM, RSMOVE, RSIMP, RSBUCK, RSBOMBI, SUPER-LC, RS-COM). Finite element analysis package includes basic program (RFEM, RFEM 2D), steel structures add-ons (RF-STEEL, RF-LTB), concrete structures add-ons (RF-CONCRETE, RF-CONCRETE 2D, RF-CONCRETE ONORM, RF-PUNCH), timber structures add-on (RF-TIMBER Members), dynamics add-ons (RF-DYNAM Basic), and other add-ons (RF-STABILITY, RF-IMP, RF-IMP, RF-COM, RF-COMBI). Cross sections modules enable to determine cross-section values and general cross-section analyses for both thin-walled and thick-walled sections (SHAPE-THIN). Connections modules perform static analyses for various types of connections for steel structures (FRAME-JOINT), END-PLATE, CONNECT, DSTV) and timber structures (DOWEL).
  • ESOP - ESOP is software developed for Component Design and Analysis based in MS Excel with over 150 modules for various types of tasks, such as steel connections (various types) to British and US standards, section property calculations, steel design, fire calculations, wave loader, offshore design modules, castellated beam sections, finite elements, plates, membranes, auto mesh generator, apply loads, instant update of results, etc. ESOP works on many levels: (1) As a workbook of standard modules that the user may access for carrying out everyday analysis and design work; (2) As a program that the engineer can use to write his own programs; (3) As a program that can automatically communicate bi-directionally with ROBOT Millennium, thereby facilitating the ability for the user to write their own pre and post processors for ROBOT - examples include connection design, wave loading etc. The communication with ROBOT Millennium or other software may take the following forms: (1) Calculation modules will automatically capture the data from ROBOT Millennium (e.g. data concerning geometry, materials, sections, loads, internal forces, ...); (2) The modules may function as generators of completed models for ROBOT Millennium (e.g. generator of frames with the elements of variable section, combinations generator, generator of typical solutions of static models, ...); (3) The modules may extend the possibilities of results analysis of ROBOT Millennium (e.g. new types of results set-ups, additional results for non-linear problems, new design codes...); (4) A set of tools exist for users to easily extract data from ROBOT Millennium, such as member data, nodal data, forces, loads etc.
